Overcharging: Over 100 transporters challaned

Rawalpindi CTO Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said the campaign was conducted at inter-city as well as intra-city routes

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) has challaned 105 public transporters for overcharging, imposing a total fine of Rs52,000. The traffic police carried out a drive to implement the new fares announced by transport authorities in the province after reduction of oil prices. Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz said the campaign was conducted at inter-city as well as intra-city routes. He said transporters who were found overcharging were told to return the excess amount on the spot. The CTO said that campaign would continue in days to come.
