An inquiry committee was formed on Thursday to investigate a complaint against a schoolteacher who gave a student a severe beating.
Abdul Hameed, an uncle of the student, told The Express Tribune his nephew Adeel Ali was a student of MC Elementary School in Madina Town. He said the boy was given some homework by his teacher Parvaiz Ahmad. “He asked Ali to memorise a long passage in a book.”
He said on Friday, Ali was asked to narrate the passage. He said when the boy missed some lines, the teacher beat him with a stick.
He said the boy’s shoulders, back and fingers were injured. He said he was taken to a hospital where he was being treated for multiple injuries. “We have submitted a complaint to the EDO and have asked him to take action against the teacher,” Hameed added. Education EDO Bashir Zahid Goraya said he had constituted an inquiry committee to probe the matter and submit a report. “Strict action will be if the allegations are proven,” he said.
