Police in action: Inmate escapes Hangu prison

Following the incident, the DPO suspended Muhabbat Ali, the moharrar of Hangu police station, over negligence

An inmate who was arrested for robbing people at gunpoint managed to escape from a prison in Hangu on Friday morning. A spokesperson for Hangu police said Hazrat Bilal was involved in snatching money and mobile phones at gunpoint. He had been arrested near a mosque.


Following the incident, the DPO suspended Muhabbat Ali, the moharrar of Hangu police station, over negligence. There were reports Ali went to the sessions court and left Bilal free in the prison. Bilal capitalised on the opportunity and escaped the prison.


Separately, the provincial department of Food Pricing Control System arrested two shop owners in Hangu and imposed a fine on 15 others for overpricing. Minister for Food Qalandar Khan Lodhi issued directives to Hangu DC Ehsanullah and members of the food department to conduct a raid on shops against illegal profiteering. Two shop owners were arrested for selling substandard quality food on high rates and under unhygienic conditions of the store.
