Former mayor of Karachi Mustafa Kamal’s return after a gap of two years was expected to cause a tremor in the ranks of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).Unexpectedly, though, his announcement to form a political party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s leader Jahangir Tareen’s subsequent endorsement of Kamal as a ‘civilised alternative’ to MQM did not go well with others in his own party.

"I welcome Mustafa Kamal's reentry to Karachi politics. It will provide a civilized alternative to the Karachi community following Altaf Hussain all these years," Tareen tweeted.

However, PTI's Karachi organiser Ali Zaidi took severe exception to this and tweeted, "Instead of saying that our stand is vindicated you tweet this? PTI  was/is the civilized alternative! Who's side are you on?"

Soon, another party leader, Ali Muhammad Khan, followed suit, saying, "There WAS and there IS only one alternative to AH & MQM in Karachi & that IS Imran Khan."

Altaf working for RAW, says Kamal

Twitter users soon joined the discussion and some wondered whether Zaidi would question even Khan's loyalty to the party.

Some asked whether Tareen was insinuating that PTI wasn't civisiled enough.

Ch. Allah Daad | 8 years ago | Reply Kamal's refusal to join PTI proves that even Establishment has also rejected PTI for its future support.
NKAli | 8 years ago | Reply How petty and small minded these PTI members can get puzzles me. Unless, there is no openness of hearts and minds, politics will be full of hatred. Salams
