SWABI: A session was organised by the Rural Development Organisation (RDO) in Swabi on planting citrus trees for the local community. This was stated in a handout issued on Thursday. The session aimed to create awareness about the benefits of planting citrus trees. Speaking on the occasion, Swabi DC Matiullah Khan said trees help maintain ecological balance and preserve the habitat for wildlife. He encouraged locals to plant more trees to reduce the impact of global warming. FATA Secretariat Information Director Fazalullah said the initiative will also encourage young people to steer clear of joining extremist groups and concentrate on productive activities. “At least 30,000 citrus trees will be grown in Zaida Town till 2017,” the handout quoted him as saying.
