Shaharyar promises team will be held accountable for Asia Cup debacle

PCB chairman says there will be changes in every department, but it will take time

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan said that team administration will be held accountable for the debacle in the Asia Cup 2016.

Pakistan crashed out of the tournament after suffering second defeat against Bangladesh by five wickets on Wednesday.

PCB chairman said that changes will come, but it will take sometime. “Team administration will be held accountable,”said Shaharyar Khan while talking to the media at Gaddaffi Stadium in Lahore. “There will be changes in every department, but it will take time.”

The 81-year-old went on to say that before the World T20, there will be changes in the squad. “I assure you that before the World T20, there will be changes,” said Shaharyar.

The experienced administrator also said that there will be no scapegoats during the accountability, but believes it is necessary as the common public feels let down. “Common public feels lets down, and we also feel the same,” said Shaharyar. “ But there won't be a witch-hunt and there won’t be any scapegoat.”

Shahid Afridi’s men will now travel to India for the World T20, where they will start their campaign on March 16 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata against Qualifier 1.

Maroof | 8 years ago | Reply Many people are blaming Shahid Afridi for the disaster. I ask them: Was in the field when the top class batsmen were getting out without scoring? Did he select the out of form players? Did he advise the selecters to drop Shahzad and Asad?

It seems that people are embarrassed to speak the bitter truth. And that is Pakistan is not producing good cricketers. Reshuffling players can only be limited to the players available in the playing circuits and their standards are below the standards of players in other countries. Players like Khurram Manzur or Sharjeel Khan will not get a place in Bangladesh team. Unlike Pakistan, Bangladesh now has a cream of young talents and they are ready and fighting to get into the team. There are some experts who says that there are enough talents in the country and that they needed to be nurtured. Where are they? It is very common to see Pakistani talents mature at the age of close to 30 or over 30. . And why raise such a hue and cry over cricket? The cricket team reflects the state of the country. The hockey team does not even qualifies for the World Cup. Look at the performance of Pakistan at the SAF Games.
