World cup winning captain Imran Khan said on Thursday Pakistan needs to play the correct combination of talent.

"Pakistani cricket fans' anger at the unceremonious exit of Pakistan team from T20 Asia Cup is understandable as our nation is oozing with talent," the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman said on twitter.

"Even with the current team, if the correct combinations are played there is enough talent for success," he added.

According to Imran, the country is oozing with talent but it needs to be polished and for that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have to become an institution built on merit.

Imran also questioned, “How can we expect this PM to select PCB chief on merit when all organisations are being headed by cronies/people rewarded for services to Sharifs.”

Pakistan were knocked out of contention for the 2016 Asia Cup final by Bangladesh on Wednesday when the tournament hosts beat Shahid Afridi and co by five wickets.

PCB on Tuesday picked two stars from the past—Imran Khan and Javed Miandad—as their role models to avoid bad practices of spot and match fixing.

The federal government revealed this before the upper house of parliament on Tuesday in reply to senators’ questions. It also said that the players of national cricket team are continuously kept under watch during international tours by anti-corruption and security officer, who is part of the team management.
