APIUA championship: Sargodha varsity student bags four gold medals

Musarat Ali, a student of Sargodha University, bagged four gold medals in the ongoing All-Pakistan Inter-University Athletic (APIUA) Championship held at Tartan Track of Qayyum Sports Complex in the city on Wednesday.


Gomal University’s Sports Science Department Chairman Dr Salahuddin was the chief guest on the occasion.

Musarat bagged a gold medal in the 100-metre race and became the fastest woman athlete of the tournament followed by Turab of Punjab University and Shafaq of Iqra University, Karachi. Turab and Shafaq received bronze medals.

Musarat also won a gold medal in the 100-metre hurdles race and another gold medal in the 400-metre flat race. She also won a gold medal in 400-metre hurdles

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Musarat said, “I was able to win today because I practiced continuously and took steps to ensure fitness.”

She added, “I will continue to represent Pakistan at the international level.”

Safeerullah, a player from Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan said, “We don’t have any opportunities and facilities in our areas. Only political gatherings are held in our sports grounds.”
