Suicides: Schoolteacher takes own life

He had shot himself in the stomach with his licenced pistol

A schoolteacher succumbed to his injuries after he reportedly attempted to take his own life in Haripur Tuesday night.


According to the police and family sources, Zubair Khan, 32, attempted to commit suicide on February 26 but survived. He was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Haripur from where he was referred to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad for tertiary care.


However, Zubair succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday night. According to the brother of the deceased, Tariq Khan, a resident of Chaintri village in Beer union council, Zubair was a primary schoolteacher. He had shot himself in the stomach with his licenced pistol.


In Shergarh, Mardan, a police officer reportedly attempted suicide but was critically injured instead. The injured, Zaheer Ahmed, was appointed as a constable in Zeli Chowki Akbar Banda police station a few months ago. Tuesday night, Ahmed allegedly shot himself with his service gun.
