The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi announced late on Monday that except for the Rawalpindi city, the secondary school certificate (SSC) examination will be held as per schedule from March 1.
Meanwhile, All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association announced school closures for the Rawalpindi division on Tuesday.
The Rawalpindi BISE Spokesperson Arsalan Cheema, told The Express Tribune that papers of Arabic, Persian, nutrition and health, and physical education, which were supposed to be held in 65 examination centres in the city, were cancelled only for Rawalpindi city.
He said that in the light of the directives issued by the district administration, exams of the postponed papers would now be held on March 4 in 65 centres of Rawalpindi city.
Cheema clarified that the SSC exams would be held in the city suburbs and other tehsils of the district as per schedule.
Meanwhile, traders in Rawalpindi city on Monday announced that major markets and shopping centres would remain shut on Tuesday.
Traders leaders including Sheikh Muhammad Siddique, Shahad Ghafoor Paracha, and others held a meeting of traders’ bodies and it was decided that shops, trade centres and eateries would remain closed in Rawalpindi city.
Hospitals put on high alert
The city administration on Monday put Rawalpindi’s public hospitals on high alert.
Medical superintendents of major hospitals have been directed to make all arrangements to meet any emergency.
They have been directed to ensure availability of staff and medicine.
