Dishonouring the uniform: Police officer caught smuggling liquor

The SI was sent on a judicial remand to the Nara Jail.

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad police arrested a sub-inspector (SI) allegedly involved in smuggling imported liquor on Saturday night and recovered dozens of bottles from him. SI Shaukat Solangi, currently posted at the Hyderabad police headquarters and assigned as liaison to the raiding teams of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, was smuggling the bottles from Karachi to Naushehro Feroze. Solangi, who has been booked in an FIR at the A-section police station, confessed during investigation that he smuggles imported liquor from Karachi to Sukkur, Kashmore and other districts in upper Sindh twice a week and gets paid Rs50,000 for each trip. The SI was sent on a judicial remand to the Nara Jail.
