Bku attack victims: Chehlum to be held on January 29
According to Khalil, students have started attending classes and the situation at the varsity was under control
SHABQADAR:
The chehlum of students and staff members who lost their lives in the attack on Bacha Khan University (BKU) will be held on February 29 (Monday), the varsity’s spokesperson, Saeed Khan Khalil, told The Express Tribune. Following the attack on the university on January 20, BKU was finally allowed to reopen on February 15 after a committee visited the premises and checked security arrangements. According to Khalil, students have started attending classes and the situation at the varsity was under control. “BKU has plans to recruit more security guards,” he said. “A list of 30 retired army personnel has been compiled and they will be recruited to provide security at the university.” As per the spokesperson, a retired colonel has been hired as the security head for the university. Khalil dispelled rumours about the closure of BKU’s hostel, saying all student accommodation were open. At least 21 people lost their lives in the BKU attack.
