Create awareness: PIMS conducts blood donation drive

ISLAMABAD:


Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Blood Bank organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with General Electric (GE), Pakistan here on Friday.


The objective of the camp was to create awareness among the GE staff about safe blood donations and collect voluntary blood donations from the conference participants.


The camp was inaugurated by Sarim Sheikh, President and CEO, GE Pakistan and Prof Hasan Abbas Zaheer, Head of Blood Transfusion Services, PIMS, Islamabad and National Coordinator, Safe Blood Transfusion Programme (SBTP), Ministry of National Health Services.


Prof Zaheer said Pakistan, along with the other 192 member states, is a signatory to all UN and WHO resolutions passed on blood safety and voluntary blood donations in the last 40 years.


Therefore, as a responsible member of the international community, the nation is responsible for implementing these resolutions in earnest.
