Snags? US Senator seeks hearing on F-16 sale
McCain urged the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to hold a hearing on the deal
WASHINGTON:
A fortnight after the United States government cleared the subsidised sale of eight F-16 aircrafts to Pakistan, Senator John McCain on Thursday urged the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to hold a hearing on the deal. “I would rather have seen it kicked over into the next administration,” McCain told reporters on Thursday. McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he was concerned about the timing of the Obama administration’s decision to approve the sale of the fighter jets to Pakistan, and it could have potential consequences for US relations with India.
