ISLAMABAD:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) extended judicial custody remand of three suspects in the Imran Farooq murder case till March 10.

ATC-I Judge, Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi, granted a 14-day extension in remand of the suspects— Moazzam Ali Khan, Khalid Shamim and Syed Mohsin Ali. Meanwhile, the court allowed an application of the suspects’ family members seeking meeting with the suspects in jail.

The family members of the suspects can now meet them in jail after a fortnight’s time. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has yet to submit a charge sheet in the case.

Two suspects, Khalid Shamim and Syed Mohsin Ali, have already recorded their confessional statements before the magistrate.

On December 5, FIA had registered a case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and other party leaders for their alleged involvement in the 2010 murder of Dr Imran Farooq. Farooq was stabbed to death near his apartment in Green Lane, Edgware.
