Rangers round up three ‘RAW-trained’ terrorists

QUETTA/ KARACHI:

The paramilitary Rangers has taken into 90-day preventive custody three political workers, who allegedly received military training in India and have been involved in multiple killings and terrorist activities in Karachi.

Arrested during an overnight ‘targeted’ raid in Usmanabad area of the city, these suspects – identified as Fahim alias Mirchi, Nasir alias Khajji and Riaz alias Lakkar – were presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court’s (ATC) administrative judge Justice Syed Farooq Shah on Wednesday afternoon.

The Rangers officials informed the judge that the three men would be grilled for a period of three months. Later talking to media outside the court, Rangers officials said the suspects, affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), were trained by India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) to carry out terrorist activities in Karachi. “They have been involved in a number of targeted killings and attacks on important installations in the city,” a Rangers official said.
