Seven killed in Khuzdar mine blast

Inflammable substance was lit in a house where mines were kept, resulting in fire and huge explosion

QUETTA: At least seven people, including three women and two children were killed and 14 others injured in a landmine blast in Garesha area of Naal Teshil district in Khuzdar, Balochistan on Wednesday.

According to sources, inflammable substance was lit in a house where mines were kept, resulting in fire and a huge explosion.

“The mines were kept in house to destroy the mountains," a source said.

However, DC Khuzdar Captain (retd) Sarmad Saleem said "a fire accidentally broke out when children of Khate Chak village were playing, which engulfed a wide area leading to blast in a room filled with explosives used for mining."

The injured were shifted to civil hospital Khuzdar, Naal and Karachi.
