15 militants killed in North Waziristan air strikes

ISPR says eight militant hideouts were also destroyed in the air strikes

At least 15 militants were killed in aerial strikes close to the Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.

The aerial strike hit the Alwara, Khar Tangi area ahead of Datta Khel, close to the Pak-Afghan border, destroying eight of the militants' hideouts, ISPR added.



A large number of local and foreign militants were killed in the previous round of airstrikes near the border with Afghanistan last month.

Pakistan Army has been engaged in a military offensive, Operation Zarb-e-Azb, in North Waziristan since June 2014, following a brazen attack on Karachi airport and the failure of peace talks between Islamabad and the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.



According to official figures, over 3,400 militants have been killed since the operation was launched.
