ISLAMABAD: Police have booked a ruling party MNA for allegedly killing a man “by mistake”.

Sheikh Roahil Asghar, PML-N lawmaker for Lahore’s NA-124 constituency, has been booked by Kohsar police for allegedly killing a security guard in a road accident.

Additional session had ordered registration of the case against the parliamentarian after the victim’s wife move court saying the police were not registering the case against the MNA.

Asghar had maintained in the court that the car was being driven by his driver when the guard was hit on August 10, 2015.

Last year, Asghar's son was arrested for beating up a security guard in Lahore. He was later granted bail against security bonds worth Rs50,000.

A case was registered against Ali Rohail Asghar after he exchanged harsh words with security guard Muhammad Hussain outside a marriage hall in Garrison Golf and Country Club in February last year when the latter asked Ali to get his car checked for security reasons and beat him up.

Duty police officer at North Cantonment Police Station – where the case was filed – said the verbal argument turned into a scuffle after which Ali started manhandling the security guard. Police said the club’s administration intervened and later police took action in response to a complaint filed by the security guard.

Hussain – in his complaint – claimed Ali also hurled threats against him during the fight. The MNA son was restrained by the club’s security personnel after the fight and handed over to police that night. An FIR was filed and Ali was formally arrested.
