Convicted: Police constable sentenced to death

FAISALABAD: District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi awarded death sentence on Friday to a constable he convicted of murder.

Prosecution said Constable Ghulam Shabbir had hired a motorbike from Arshad Bibi, his neighbour in Hajvairi Town. He said the man had not returned the motorbike and did pay rent.


The judge was told that when the woman demanded payment, Shabbir shot and killed her.


Her son Mirza Tariq was also injured in the incident. The judge awarded death sentence to Shabbir under Section 302-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The convict was also directed to pay Rs400,000 compensation to heirs of the deceased.
