Quetta Gladiators defeated Peshawar Zalmi by one run in the first play-off match of the inaugural Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Sarfraz Ahmed’s side put up a target of 134 for Peshawar to chase after the end of first innings.
For Quetta, Kevin Pietersen scored a magnificent half-ton from 38 balls, while Kumar Sangakkara scored 37 from 29 deliveries. However, all the other batsmen failed to reach double-digits, except for Mohammad Nawaz who scored 20 runs for the Gladiators.
Wahab Riaz was the top performer with the ball for Peshawar, claiming three wickets and getting one run-out.
Other than that, Shaun Tait claimed two wickets while all other bowlers claimed one wicket apiece for Peshawar.
In response, Peshawar scored 132 in 20 overs, largely due to Sammy, who scored 38 from 29 deliveries.
Grant Elliot and Mohammad Nawaz claimed three wickets apiece for Quetta, while Aizaz Cheema claimed two wickets in a nail-biting last over.
Man of the match award went to Mohammad Nawaz for his brilliant performance with the ball.
