The victims, aged between 18 and 27, were run over around 6:20 am (0050 GMT) between the Kurla and Vidyavihar stations in the north of India's teeming financial capital.

"All were returning home after finishing work at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus," deputy commissioner of railway police Rupali Ambure told AFP via text message, referring to Mumbai's main railway station.
