PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau has indicted various Pesco officials, including its newly appointed chief executive officer, Anwarul Haq, for causing losses worth over a billion rupees to the national exchequer. According to a reference filed by the bureau, the losses were incurred when electricity was purchased from Gadoon Textile Mills at exorbitant rates and sold back to the mill at a lower rate. Charges have been framed against two former chiefs and nine officials of the power utility and three directors of the mill. However, the accused have denied the charges. The court has postponed proceedings in the case to February 25.
