PESHAWAR: A senior member of the board of revenue and the Bannu DC have been summoned to the next meeting of a sub-committee investigating Bannu Sugar Mills asset transfer.

The sub-committee constituted by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet to look into Bannu Sugar Mills and its assets transfer to DI Khan met on Tuesday.  A handout issued by the directorate of information said the meeting was chaired by Minister for Labour Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli.

Members of the committee including ministers Imtaiz Shahid Qureshi and Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur also attended the meeting.

Bannu Sugar Mills stands on 942 canal and 10 marlas. It was acquired by Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) in 1963. Later, it was sold to a private owner in 1984.

At the meeting it was said the existing management had requested the provincial government to issue a no-objection certificate to shift movable assets and machinery of the mills to DI Khan from Bannu in 2013.

After a thorough discussion, the provincial government gave the approval to shift the assets but the relevant department was directed to look into specifics.

It was decided to summon a senior member of the board of revenue and Bannu deputy commissioner with all relevant records in next meeting of the committee.

Records will be collected from other stakeholders to prepare an accurate and authentic report which would be submitted in the Cabinet.
