Anti-polio campaign: 9.9 million children to be vaccinated

The campaign will conclude on February 17th

As many as 9.9 million children below the age of five will be vaccinated in an anti-polio campaign that started in eight districts on Monday. The campaign will conclude on February 17th, said Health Department spokesperson Akhlaq Ali Khan. He said Lahore, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rawalpindi, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur and Bahawalpur districts would be covered in the campaign. He said 839 union councils in these districts would be covered by 15,121 teams. He said teams would be deployed at railway stations, bus stops, airports and toll plazas on major inter-city highways. He said a security plan for the polio workers had been finalised. He said 12,000 personnel would perform security duties.
