The Express Tribune staffer meets sudden death

ISLAMABAD:

Huma Choudhary, a photojournalist for The Express Tribune, died on Saturday at a local hospital. She was 30.

Choudhary was in the United Arab Emirates on an official assignment. While there, she suspected she had contracted food poisoning, according to colleagues and family who had spoken with her.

She flew back to Pakistan Saturday morning and was taken to a hospital in Islamabad, where she died.  The cause of her death was immediately not confirmed.
She is survived by her parents, two older sisters, a younger sister, and a younger brother.



Choudhary was a graduate of the Lahore School of Economics and had left a lucrative career in the financial sector to join The Express Tribune as a photojournalist in the summer of 2014.

During her time with the paper, she contributed a number of memorable photographs and stories, including photo features on the cultural heritage of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Potohar region, and the plight of minorities and the poor.

Beyond her contributions to the newspaper, her bubbly personality, drive, desire to improve her skill set, and willingness to test herself were a source of inspiration for co-workers.

Both as a photojournalist and as a human being, she approached life with an open spirit and genuine kindness. Through her lens, she showed the world the beauty she saw through her own eyes.

Choudhary believed in the best side of people, and took great pride in being a Pakistani.

Her love for her family and friends poured through her being. She was deeply compassionate and never short of a kind thing to say. She was a loyal friend and dedicated professional.
