Deal struck: LNG agreement termed a milestone

The minister said that LNG was only way out to meet the growing energy demands in the country

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Friday that the government had achieved a milestone by reaching Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) deal with Qatar. Talking to a private news channel, he said that LNG was only way out to meet the growing energy demands in the country, adding it would help overcome energy shortage. He said the government had initiated a number of energy projects to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers. The minister informed that the government had signed a long-term LNG agreement with Qatar while five more agreements would be made in the future.
