No love for the beach: Sindh govt bans swimming this Valentine’s Day

Citizens will not be allowed to go to beaches on Sunday, February 14

KARACHI: The Sindh government has banned swimming in the beaches of Karachi on Valentine’s Day after imposing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

According to a notification issued by the home department on Friday, citizens will not be allowed to go beaches on Sunday, February 14.

“Police and law enforcement agencies will take action against those who violate the order,” said home minister Sohail Anwar Siyal.

In the notification, the Karachi commissioner stated that on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, a large number of people visit the seaside and take part in swimming.

This poses a health risk and thus, to avoid loss of human lives, should be banned, it stated further.
