K-P CM reiterates committment to eradicate polio

Ceremony held to pay tribute to late EPI Coordinator Swabi Dr Yaqoob Khan

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said the provincial government is fully committed to eradicate polio from the province, and all available resources are being are utilised for the purpose.

While addressing a ceremony to pay tribute to late EPI Coordinator Swabi Dr Yaqoob Khan on Thursday, Khattak said as compared to 2014, there was a 70% decline in polio cases.

Dr Yaqoob was gunned down on November 30, 2015 due to his services for eradication of polio.

The chief minister said Dr Yaqoob was a committed officer, and also lauded the role played by Rotary, WHO, UNICEF, and other partners in polio eradication.
