“Of course,” said Sammy when asked about whether Peshawar can go all the way. “We’ve got the team and the squad so yes, we certainly can.”
The 2012 World T20 winning captain, speaking exclusively to The Express Tribune, further added that he was ‘very excited to be sharing the dressing room with players like Shahid Afridi, Wahab Riaz and Kamran Akmal’ and was ‘honoured to be a part of such an amazing league’.
Sammy feels for cricket-starved Pakistan fans
Sammy, meanwhile, had special praise for standout performer, 18-year-old Mohammad Asghar, who has impressed all with his ability with the ball and is the league’s second-highest wicket-taker with six wickets from three matches.
“Asghar has been phenomenal for us and has impressed everybody with his ability,” said Sammy.
When asked whether he sees Asghar playing in the Caribbean Premier League, Sammy joked that he ‘cannot reveal all the secrets’ but was quick to add that ‘one player, who has impressed everybody, could be seen in the league’.
