RAWALPINDI:

The National Highways and Motorway Police on Tuesday foiled a bid to loot and kidnap three businessmen by conducting a successful operation near Chakri Interchange.

The police received a call on their helpline that three Mardan-based businessmen who were travelling from Lahore to Mardan had been looted and kidnapped on the Motorway near Kalar Kahar. The police established a halting point near Chakri Interchange to intercept the kidnappers’ vehicle.

When told to pull over, the kidnappers opened fire on the police and tried to escape. The police retaliated and caught two of the suspects in injured condition. The other two were arrested after a brief chase. The suspects were identified as Amjad Khan, Gulraz Khan, Shah Hussain and Shahid Khan. Police also recovered Rs22.3 million looted from the businessmen.
