ANF arrest 10 drug smugglers

Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has arrested 10 suspected drug peddlers and smugglers and recovered over 22kg of illicit drugs from them in separate operations in the Rawalpindi region.


An ANF team arrested, identified as Abdul Akbar and Safaid Gul who are residents of Khyber Agency and Hangu respectively, in possession of 5kg heroin near Mandi Mor on IJ Principal Road in Islamabad. ANF officials said the suspects were to hand over the narcotic to a local drug supplier in Islamabad.

Another ANF team held a passenger with 700 grammes of ice at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA). The prohibited substance was found in the luggage of Obaidullah, who was to fly to Doha on flight No QR-633. Another passenger, identified as Saifullah, was arrested after 2kg heroin was recovered from his bag. The suspect was booked on the Jeddah-bound flight No SV-721. Yet another passenger, Haji Muhammad, was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle heroin abroad. He was leaving for China via Doha on flight No QR-633.

The ANF airport team also intercepted a passenger, Qadir Fazal, at BBIA who confessed of having gulped heroin-filled capsules. He was booked on a Doha-bound flight No QR-615.

ANF Rawalpindi also arrested a suspected local drug supplier named Shabir Ahmed resident with 3kg hashish in Attock city.

The ANF team recovered 5kg hashish and 5kg opium from a car during routine checking on a road near Attock city. All three occupants were taken into custody while the car was also seized. Separate cases have been registered against all suspects and they are being investigated.
