LAHORE: After five days of stalled operations, eight flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) took off and reached their destinations on Sunday.

According to Radio Pakistan, two flights of the national airline carrying 725 Umrah pilgrims from Jeddah reached Islamabad airport, while two other flights left for Jeddah and Dubai.

Flight operations between Gilgit and Islamabad also resumed on Sunday.

16 PIA flights cancelled on Friday

PIA spokesperson Daniyal Gilani assured the employees of security, saying the number of operational flights will gradually increase.

Meanwhile, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid congratulated the workers who had started performing their duties.

Parvez | 8 years ago | Reply Even if PIA resumes all its services it means that the solution has been delayed and the damage will intensify making the final settlement more attractive for the buyers and the burden heavier for the Pakistani people.......and the PML-N will play politics and blame the opposition.

Pakistani | 8 years ago | Reply lets not bow down to these goans. Enough is enough, if we have to suffer loss, then let it be at one time. Just shut down the PIA. we tax payers can't put our money on this third class airlines and its pathetic staff any more.
