State of corruption: North Sindh Urban Services Corporation chairperson resigns

NAB has initiated an inquiry against the organisation on charges of corruption

SUKKUR: North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC), Sukkur, board of directors chairperson Rahiq Safi Munshi resigned from his post on Saturday.

NSUSC is responsible for providing water supply, managing drainage and sanitation in five cities of upper Sindh, including Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur, Shikarpur and Larkana. Munshi resigned from his post due to rampant corruption and mismanagement in the organisation, said a source, requesting anonymity.

NSUSC media coordinator Malook Buledi confirmed the resignation, but said Munshi took the decision because of his unwillingness to work with the junior directors of the organisation. Most of the senior directors have either completed their term or have resigned.



However, NSUSC managing-director Syed Mehmood Shah has yet to receive the resignation, said Buledi.

Shah was not available for his comments on the matter.

History of corruption

National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Sukkur, has initiated an investigation against NSUSC on the charges of massive corruption in the organisation.

The investigation will be completed by end of February, revealed a source in NAB. However, an initial inquiry report has been submitted to the Sindh High Court, he added.
