ISLAMABAD:

Upon requisition notices filed by opposition parties for early sessions of both houses of parliament on the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) issue, a Senate session has been summoned on Wednesday.

The notices have been signed by lawmakers from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A).

“We have requisitioned the session primarily to discuss the crisis on the issue of privitisation of PIA and the refusal of the government to transfer the benefits of a massive fall in international oil prices to the consumer in the country,” PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar told The Express Tribune on Friday. “We want to discuss these issues and to impress upon the government to revisit its policy towards PIA.”
