Addressing a media briefing after the signing ceremony, the Bahria Town Chief Malik Riaz said that meeting Mohammad Ibrahim, an injured student of Army Public School, and getting him treated at Harley Street Clinic, London, was a defining moment.
“I decided to bring this type of surgery home to Pakistan when I realized that thousands of people were suffering simply because they could not afford such neurological procedures abroad,” the construction tycoon said.
“It is my dream to have healthcare centres offering latest medical facilities affordable by even the underprivileged segments of society,” Malik Riaz said.
Over 25 renowned surgeons from Harley Street Clinic were present with Malik Riaz at the briefing.
Malik Riaz will himself bear expenses of operations of poor and deserving patients of neurosurgery at Bahria Town hospitals in Pakistan.
The revolutionary partnership will help set up world class spinal surgery, rehabilitation and nerve injury repair centres at three hospitals of Bahria Town at Bahria Town Enclave, Islamabad, Golf City, Islamabad and Bahria Orchard, Lahore. These centres will, for the first time in Pakistan, provide keyhole spine surgery.
