ISLAMABAD:

A complainant, Mashooqa Bibi, has approached the Supreme Court against the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) order that dismissed her petition against a military court’s verdict to award death sentence to her brother, Aslam Khan.

The petition is filed by country’s top jurist Asma Jahangir, who has already filed a number of petitions against the military courts’ verdicts. Military courts were formed last year through 21st constitutional amendment for swift trial of ‘hardcore terrorists’.

Bibi has filed the petition under Article 185(3) of Constitution and made Tamergara Jail’s superintendent, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) secretary, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general, Ministry of Interior’s secretary and Mohmand Agency’s political agent as respondents.
