PESHAWAR: A person who was transgender was battered and robbed by her partner in Ghanta Ghar Chowk area of the city Wednesday night. According to the police, Komal was given a thrashing by Kashif, someone she was romantically involved with. Komal and Kashif had an argument after which Kashif beat Komal up, leaving her severely injured. Kashif also chopped Komal’s hair off. Afterwards, according to the police report, Kashif took away her gold jewellery worth thousands of rupees and her mobile phone. When Komal tried to access Kotwali police station to register an FIR against the accused, police denied her entry into the building. After reaching out to the media, an FIR was later registered against Kashif. Further investigation is under way.
