LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought a reply from the government on a petition challenging the appointment of the Health Department director general. Manzoor Hussain had challenged the appointment of Dr Mukhtar Hussain, calling it a violation of seniority and merit. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that the government had appointed the respondent ignoring more eligible officers. He stated that the respondent was a BS-19 officer, but had been appointed to a BS-20 post on political grounds. The counsel asked the court to set aside the impugned appointment for being illegal. Justice Shahid Waheed heard the arguments and issued a notice to the government for March 22.
