Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan is fast progressing on every front but the “politics of sit-ins had brought damage to the country."

“Thar coal was not utilised for a period of 70 years,” the premier said while addressing the business community of Sahiwal on Tuesday. “[The] PML-N is working on development projects, [while] other [political] parties are staging protests."

He was reviewing progress on the country's first 1,320MW coal-fired power plant.

Govt allowed to resume work on coal-fired plant

The coal-fired project is part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, and will be operational by the end of 2016.

“A number of development projects would have been completed had [the] PTI not organised a sit-in in Islamabad,” said the premier.

In an attempt to overthrow the government, the PTI had staged a 126-day long sit-in in Islamabad in 2014. Tahirul Qadri's Pakistan Awami Tehreek also took part in the protests.

Disgusting | 8 years ago | Reply It is the politics of eating public money that is the only impediment to development. Who is eating? The whole world knows. The poster behind with smiling face of both brothers is the proof. Is it their money with which this 'project' is being built with? No it is our money but they use our money to promote themselves. An old habit.
Ali S | 8 years ago | Reply PMLN only knows the politics of metros and business - I'll admit that it's slightly better than stupid dharnas, but it's a still failed and visionless strategy. Nawaz needs to stop patting himself on the back and face reality.
