LONDON: When it comes to showing affection, get a dog, as they score significantly higher than cats in regards to showering their owners with love.

Being unhappy won’t kill you for sure

According to an interesting research, your canine friend loves you five times more than its feline counterpart.

For the study which is part of an upcoming BBC documentary, US neuroscientist Paul Zak took saliva samples from 10 cats and 10 dogs prior to a 10-minute playtime session with their owners.

He then took another saliva sample from all of the participants after their playtime encounter, testing it for the presence of oxytocin (love or bonding hormone).

Earlier studies have shown that when owners interact with dogs, they appear to release oxytocin.

The results showed a 57.2 percent oxytocin increase in dogs while only 12 percent increase of the hormone was found in cats.

“I was really surprised to discover that dogs produced such high levels of oxytocina. The dog level of 57.2 per cent is a very powerful response,” Zak was quoted as saying in a report.

7 ways to meet your Mr Right

The documentary titled Cats v. DogsĀ is scheduled to premiere on BBC on the 4th of February.

I have seen dog’s love for his owner at much greater extent. My cousin owns a rottweiler he bought it when he was a puppy and now he is 2 years old. He waits on the door for him whole night when he goes out with us. It’s really amazing to see such kind of love.Recommend

My Coco loves me as much as any Dog could. He comes up on the door as soon as i am about to come and just keeps following me and licking my feet when i come home.

Love is an abstract thing IMO it cant be measuredRecommend

My cat is sitting outside in front of the door like a dog. She sits there day n night and nobody dare pass through her. When she sees me coming home from far she runs on the road to greet me. Recommend
