Tunnel accident: Worker killed, 12 others injured in Battagram

According to Pazang police station, seven workers were carrying out the annual cleaning of the hydraulic head

An employee of Allai Khwar Hydropower Plant (AKHP) was killed while 12 others, including three Chinese engineers, were injured during a tunnel accident Wednesday evening.


According to an official of Pazang police station, seven workers were carrying out the annual cleaning of the hydraulic head. This was taking place under the supervision of three Pakistani and three Chinese engineers when the incident occurred.


“All 13 of them were holding onto a rope,” he said. “The rope snapped and they fell into the water in the tunnel.”


According to the official, the engineers and workers were rushed to the hospital. “Shamsur Rahman, one of the workers, was shifted to Ayub Medical Complex Abbottabad where he died,” he added.
