Public schools: Female students to start getting stipends from Jan 29

The Easypaisa team will distribute the stipends among girls enrolled in government schools from class six to Matric

Distribution of stipends to public school girls through ATM cards and Easypaisa, for the academic year 2014-2015 is scheduled to begin from January 29.


"This year 350,000 girls will receive [a total] amount of Rs950 million, which will start from January 29," announced senior education minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro in a press conference on Wednesday. The Easypaisa team will distribute the stipends among girls enrolled in government schools from class six to Matric.  Khuhro also said that in rural areas, girls from class six to Matric will receive Rs3,500 and in urban areas girls will receive Rs2,500. He said that this incentive is to increase the enrolment, so that girls can continue their education. Last year, about 344,160 girls received their stipend, he added.
