Knee fix: Shoaib Akhtar goes under the knife

The world’s former fastest bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who suffered from a degenerative knee condition which ended his career short, has gone under the knife in a bid to finally fix his knee issues.

As per Shoaib’s initial diagnostic X-ray reports, his upper leg bone (the femur) was grinding one of his lower leg bones (the tibia).

According to Shoaib’s doctors, bowling with his knees at such high-octane pace for nearly a decade was mind-boggling, but the right-armer did it and that too with sheer resolute.

Shoaib got his surgery done on January 23 in Melbourne, Australia and it was fixed by Dr David Young whom Shoaib considers an artist more than a medical practitioner.

And how did the doctors fix his ailing knee? Well, they had to think out of the box just like Shoaib’s bowling style.

And at the end of the day, Shoaib’s problem was solved using metal plates which allowed free and painless movement of his knee joint.
