Police operations: Over 110 suspects arrested in Mardan, Peshawar

The police also seized arms and ammunition from the possession of the arrested suspects

Nearly 20 suspects, including six proclaimed offenders, were arrested during a search and strike operation in Mardan Saturday.


Like other parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, law-enforcement agencies were also engaged in operations in the district.


Mardan city Deputy Superintendent Shamrez Khan told the media on Saturday that the latest round of search and strike operations was conducted within the jurisdiction of Toru police station.

The police also seized arms and ammunition from the possession of the arrested suspects. District Police Officer Faisal Shehzad has already directed field officers to keep an eye out for militants so as to ensure a peaceful atmosphere was maintained and militancy was curbed. Meanwhile, in Paharipura area of Peshawar, police arrested 90 suspects during an operation.

Among the arrested persons, 17 were Afghan nationals who were booked under section 14 of The Foreigners Act.
