Govt approval: New autism centre for capital
The Autistic Unit was started in April 2015
ISLAMABAD:
The government has approved the establishment of a Centre for Children with Autism while the process for allocation of funds has also been initiated. According to official sources, the PC-I for the establishment of the centre has been approved. A small unit for autism has already been established at the National Special Education Centre for special children in Islamabad under the Directorate General of Special Education. There are 20 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who are taking training at the unit. The Autistic Unit was started in April 2015. He further said there are many specific ways of teaching children with Autism Spectrum Disorder however specific training will be required for teachers and professionals that will be given in the future.
