Canada-based band Mausiki is all set to perform in Karachi at the end of this month, along with four other local musicians, and people can't stop raving about it.
The band's vocalist and guitar player, Ashar Kazi, told The Express Tribune, "I'll be performing some of Mausiki's tunes with a local line up consisting of Umair Dar, of band The D/A Method, Daniel Panjwaney of //orangenoise and Zain Jaffer."

The event name is called Cranked Up! Karachi and will also see the city's indie-folk rockers Sikandar ka Mandar joining the band on stage along with some high caliber guest musicians and live graffiti by Neil Uchong.

Mausiki is a four-piece cosmic-rock band and has influences that span across continents and genres. The term mausiki itself means music in dialects of South Asia, where the band's frontman Ashar Kazi grew up playing in the underground scene before he ended up in Vancouver to eventually find the right ‘Mausikars’ (aka musicians) for Mausiki.

The band's music can be best defined as tropical grunge - a mix of cosmic rock and world music and the resulting sound is a melting pot of melodies. Lyrically the songs project a universal theme of existence – inspired by concepts of space, time and reality – with tracks such as Ray of Light and Beyond. Those who experience Mausiki find a distinct sound, a fusion of world music and classic rock 'n' roll. Last year the band released a five track EP called Our Universe.
