Plea Against Ary: PEMRA ordered to take action

The counsel said the regulatory body had asked the respondent to submit a response

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court has given the country’s media regulatory body 10 days to take action on a petition requesting cancellation of ARY News channel’s licence. Filed by Shuhada Foundation spokesperson Hafiz Ehtisham, the petition sought action against the news channel for linking Tashfeen Malik — who was allegedly involved in the San Bernardino shooting — with Lal Masjid. Justice Aamir Farooq asked Advocate Tariq Asad, counsel for the petitioner, if the Pemra had taken action on his complaint. The counsel said the regulatory body had asked the respondent to submit a response, but the petitioner does not trust Pemra.
