Asia Cup for Blind: Pakistan thrash Nepal by nine wickets

The greenshirts started their Asia Cup Cricket Tournament for Blind campaign with an impressive victory

Zeeshan Abbasi’s three-wicket haul guided Pakistan to an impressive nine-wicket victory over Nepal in their opening match of the first Asia Cup Cricket Tournament for Blind at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi, India on Monday.


Asked to bat first, Nepal were restricted to 85 runs in 18.1 overs as Abbasi picked up three wickets along with Badar Munir taking two. Shankar (15) was Nepal’s highest scorer.


Chasing 86, Pakistan reached the target in just 7.1 overs as unbeaten Sanaullah Qazi scored 39 runs off 21 balls along with unbeaten captain Anees Javed scoring 22 off 10 balls. Nepal’s Ram Parsad bagged the solitary wicket.

“Our bowlers did the main damage, which took the burden off the batsmen’s shoulders,” Javed told The Express Tribune. In the other match of the day, India defeated Bangladesh by 179 runs. Pakistan will now face arch-rivals India after a day’s rest.
