"In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for."

News surfaced earlier this week that the Friends cast would be coming together for a reunion for the first time on the network since their show ended in 2004. But there's bad news...

It has now been reported that Matthew Perry (Chandler) "will not" be attending the reunion show due to rehearsals for his play, The End of Longing....

The news 'Friends' fans have been waiting for has finally arrived

To compensate, he "may tape something" for fans and show to the creator of the show, James Burrows. "In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for," his spokeswoman, Lisa Kasteler, told Us Weekly.

The other five cast members, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc are expected to be there for the reunion which will air on NBC on February 21.

Are Monica and Chandler dating in real life?

Matthew's play, The End of Longing..., will run in London's West End from February 2 to May 14. It has been directed by Lindsay Posner and written by Matthew himself.

The plot is a dark comedy revolving around four people who are approaching middle age and randomly meet in a bar one night.

The play sees Perry return to West End theatre after 2003, when he performed in David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago.

It couldn't get any worse than this...
